• Step 1: Dismantle the Xbox.

Remove the motherboard from the console by following this guide: Crack open that Xbox

• Step 2: Determine your motherboard revision.

You can easy determine the motherboard revision by looking at the video encoder.

If the encoder is a Conexant, then you have a 1.0 -1.3 motherboard.

If the encoder is a Focus, then you have a 1.4 motherboard.

If the encoder is a Xcalibur, then you have a 1.6/1.6b motherboard.
