Team Cerbios Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Hey Xbox-Scene Members, First off, we want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who took part in the poll! Your feedback and support have been incredibly helpful as we continue to develop Cerbios and push it into new territory. What's Next for Cerbios? After much consideration, we've decided to introduce split Cerbios releases. Here's how it will work: Lite Version: This will remain compatible with TSOP, softmods, and older-generation modchips. It will offer all the core functionality you've come to expect but may not include some of the advanced features we have planned. Pro Version: The Pro version will require custom hardware, which may include microcontrollers, storage devices, or other hardware add-ons. This version will unlock enhanced features and capabilities that simply aren’t possible with older mods. We understand this may raise some questions, so here’s a quick FAQ to clarify a few points: ### FAQ ### Why introduce a Pro version with additional hardware? We’re approaching the limits of what’s possible with existing mods, TSOPs, and softmods. Without additional hardware, we would hit limitations that restrict our ability to offer advanced features. The Pro version, while requiring extra hardware, will allow us to continue innovating and expanding Cerbios beyond those limits. Will releases still be free? Yes! All of our releases, both Lite and Pro, will continue to be free. However, the Pro version will require additional hardware to access advanced features. The community's support will be vital when it comes to testing and development as we move forward. Will I be able to build the hardware myself? Absolutely. Our goal is to provide diagrams and detailed instructions, much like other community-driven projects like ModXO. You’ll be able to build the necessary hardware yourself if you’re up for it, or you can wait for community collaborations to release ready-made solutions. Will the Pro version support existing modchips? Unfortunately, no. The Pro version will rely on new hardware elements. Existing mods won’t be able to support these features due to hardware limitations. Will you charge for software or hardware? No, we have no plans to charge for software, and we’re even exploring the possibility of open-sourcing the hardware. Our commitment to the community remains the same: no gatekeeping, no paywalls, and no BS. What’s Next? Our team will begin prototyping soon and will need community input and testing to refine both the hardware and software. We are especially keen to connect with hardware developers who have experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and other related technologies. Your expertise could play a crucial role in helping us bring the best possible Pro version to life. We’re full of ideas and excited to share them with the scene. Join the Discussion and Share Your Ideas! As we move forward, the forums will be the main hub for all discussions, ideas, suggestions, and feedback. If you haven't already, we highly recommend registering and contributing your thoughts. Whether it's ideas for new features, feedback on any of our releases, or questions, we want to hear from you! Again, thank you all for your ongoing support. We can’t wait to share more details as we continue developing both the Lite and Pro versions of Cerbios. Stay tuned for updates and more info! 3 1 Quote
Siktah Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) I would be interested in knowing what the hard cutoff between legacy modchips and future, ie. what side of this is ModX0? For example RP4020 = lite and RP4350 based and beyond = pro. Edited October 23 by Siktah Quote
Lonnie - LonWay Tech Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Hello, I'm happy to assist with hardware testing. When the time comes im also happy to build and donate a few prototype units to hardware/software developers that need them. Quote
